Quick Update On Beautiful Day
While I am stuck at work on this beautiful spring-like day (though I did enjoy a nice lunchtime jog), Kim and Trey are out enjoying the park near our house. Here are a couple of photos she just sent to me.
Paff’s Visit
Ed’s family came out to visit us two weekends ago. We had a great weekend with them plus a few bonus days due to the crazy weather that has been passing through the country. They were supposed to fly out on Monday but they weren’t able to get out until Thursday afternoon after four or five cancelled flights.
We started out the weekend by spending Thursday afternoon and evening hanging out at our house while everyone took turns holding Trey. He loved this of course! Then Friday, Ed, his dad, Tim and Melissa all went to a beer festival with our friends, Rob and Ryan.
We spent Saturday enjoying the gorgeous weather (65+ degrees!) by going on a hike and walking around Pearl Street in Boulder. Sunday we walked around downtown Denver and stopped in a couple local bars and restaurants. At one point in the day I found myself nursing Trey on a couch in a club in LoDo (something I NEVER would have agreed to two months ago. But a screaming, hungry infant makes you do things you’ve never done before.)
Since Ed’s family got to spend bonus days in Denver, we were all able to go to one of Ed’s hockey games. I think we all enjoyed seeing him play even though Trey decided to nap through most of the game.
Ed and I loved having his family in town with us. I’ve attached some of my favorite pictures from the weekend. Thank you Claire for taking all the great shots!
Learning To Crawl…
…kind of. Kim capture this video of Trey doing some sort of butt pushing motion to move around on the ground. It’s pretty ingenious actually.
Grandparent’s Visits
Two weekends in a row we are having our parents visit. Last weekend my parents came out and Ed’s parents arrive today.
We had a great time with my parents and Nick. We visited the aquarium (something Ed has wanted to do since we moved here), hung out at the pool at their hotel, took a walk to the park and FINALLY visited the original Chipotle (something Nick has talked about for quite a while). We were busy all weekend but my favorite part was just hanging out at our house. Ed cooked us a great dinner one night and we took turns passing Trey around.
It was hard to say goodbye at the end of the weekend. Having my parents in town made me realize how thankful I am that we are moving back home in a few months. There’s nothing like having family around to enjoy special times like these.
Two Week Check-up
Today was Trey’s two week check-up with the pediatrician. He did great and didn’t even cry for the doctor. Here are his stats as I remembered them to be:
- Weight: 9 pounds. 50th percentile. Up 22 ounces since the 13th.
- Height: 20 1/4 inches. 30th percentile. Originally I said he was 20 1/2 at birth, but I guess the official report was 20 inches flat. So he has grown a little bit.
- Head: 14 1/2 inches. 45th percentile. I can’t remember exactly what it was at birth, she said 13 something inches I believe.
He is a growing boy and totally healthy! Here is a video I put together from a couple of clips shortly after Trey’s birth.
Our First Week Home Without Ed
Well we made it through this week with Ed going back to work, but we missed him! This won’t come as a surprise to anyone, but Ed took good care of both Trey and me last week. I was really worried about him going back to work.
This week Trey and I are starting to get into a little routine, although it is very loose. We try to get out of the house for a walk once a day and other than that we do whatever Trey wants. This usually consists of eating, sleeping, skyping and just hanging out. I can (and usually do) spend hours just holding him and staring at him. I still cannot believe he is really here. We waited so long for “the baby” to get here and now I can’t imagine a time when Trey wasn’t a part of our life. It feels like I’m in a dream. A perfect dream.
And to make things even better my parents and youngest brother, Nick, arrived in Denver last night. I’m excited that they finally get to meet Trey in person!! They visited for a couple hours last night and then came over first thing this morning to take turns holding Trey. We also took advantage of the nice weather and walked to lunch and the park.
Here are some pictures I took during the week:
Miss You
Unfortunately I had to return to work today. Updates may not be as frequent from me, though I’ll try to upload photos when I can. Here is a quick shot of Trey sleeping in his new bassinet when I left the house this morning. Can’t wait to get back home!
First Photo Shoots
Things have definitely been busy. Friday we actually managed to get out of the house again. This time we loaded Trey into the carseat and placed it into our stroller. We took a nice walk down the street for some lunch at a nearby deli and then continued the walk down to the grocery. Trey slept through the entire trip once again. He actually slept for most of the day Friday. Which led to more awake time throughout the night.
Saturday none of us left the house at all, but we did accomplish a few things. Most importantly we gave Trey his first bath outside of the hospital. He didn’t care for it at all in the beginning, but once he finally relaxed he really enjoyed the warm water on his head. After that I setup a little photo shoot on the couch to attempt to get some good pictures of Trey. The results were mixed. It is impossible to predict when he will actually smile, so I mostly sat and waited for the right moments.
Today was another day for us to get out of the house. We again headed out to get lunch, which seems to be our new tradition. It is much easier for us to get a morning feeding in Trey and then head out, rather than try to predict when we could leave later in the evening. After lunch we made a couple of stops at Target (again) and Babies”R”Us. We may have pushed our luck a little too much, as Trey did get a little fussy toward the end. I followed this up with a second photo shoot. The results can all be seen below.
